Just a quick update post about my reading “plans”.
I just finished reading My System FastTrack Edition. The review will be out in a week and a half.
I’m about 15 games out from finishing up Alexander Alekhine’s Complete Games Collection Vol 2. Looking forward to writing a review on this one as well
I am also going through my second read of Chess Tactics From Scratch. The first time I really enjoyed it, but as I was starting to work my way through the 300 puzzles included at the back of the book, I found myself already losing some sharpness and wanted to refresh the material in my head. The second read-through is just as pleasant as the first — Weteschnik really drills down into how tactics work in a way I’ve never seen before
Lastly, for enjoyment purposes, I’ve been working my way through Bobby Fischer and His World. This one is quite lengthy and contains many stories about his career but also many games.
As far as future plans hold, here’s what’s coming next:
Max Euwe’s Best Games. This one has been sitting in my kindle library since shortly after it came out but I wanted to make sure I had really dug into Alekhine. After three game collections and a tournament book (and over 300 games in total), I feel ready to look at his temporary successor, at least until Russian Chess House hopefully releases the last two volumes of the complete Alekhine game collection in English 🙏🏽🙏🏽 !
Learn from Bent Larsen. I had been excited about this one since hearing Marin talk about it on the perpetual chess podcast. I finally pulled the trigger and picked up a paper copy and am looking forward to learning about the game from the play of Chess’s most famous Dane.
What chess books have you been reading lately?
